At Broughton Manor Preparatory School, we understand that a happy child is one who is ready to learn, grow, and thrive. Our exceptional pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do, creating a warm, inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued, respected, and known as an individual.
Form Tutor System
Our dedicated form tutor system plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of every child. Each class is led by a form tutor who takes the time to build a strong, nurturing relationship with the children in their care. As the first point of contact for both pupils and parents, the form tutor provides continuity and support throughout each child’s journey at Broughton Manor. This close connection enables us to respond quickly and effectively to any pastoral needs, celebrating achievements and guiding children through challenges as they arise.
PSHE at Broughton Manor
Our rich and thoughtfully designed Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) programme supports pupils in developing confidence, resilience, empathy, and self-awareness. Through engaging and age-appropriate lessons, children explore important topics including emotional well-being, healthy relationships, personal safety, diversity, and digital citizenship. These sessions are delivered with sensitivity and care, and we actively encourage parental engagement to ensure shared understanding and consistency between home and school.
Mental Health and Emotional Well-being
We recognise the importance of supporting mental health at every stage of a child’s development. Broughton Manor has a qualified and experienced Mental Health Lead, who works closely with staff, pupils, and families to promote a positive, proactive approach to mental well-being. Early intervention, open communication, and personalised strategies help ensure each pupil receives the support they need, when they need it.
Our team of Mental Health Ambassadors, made up of trained pupils, also plays a key role in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting kindness throughout the school. These ambassadors help foster a culture where it is safe and encouraged to talk about feelings, seek help, and look after one another.
Working in Partnership with Parents
At Broughton Manor, we believe that the best pastoral care happens in partnership with parents. By working closely with families, we create a consistent and supportive network around each child. Regular communication, parent-teacher meetings, pastoral updates, and shared goals ensure that parents are fully involved in their child’s well-being. We value the trust placed in us, and we are committed to maintaining open, honest and compassionate dialogue with all families.
At Broughton Manor Prep, our pastoral care is more than a system—it is a whole-school commitment to the happiness, health, and personal growth of every child. By nurturing the individual, building strong relationships, and working hand in hand with families, we prepare our pupils not just for academic success, but for life.
