Pre-Prep

Welcome to Our Pre Prep Department

The Pre-Prep department is dedicated to offering a broad and creative curriculum that encourages active learning both inside our bright classrooms and outside in our lovely school grounds. Each classroom has direct access to outdoor play areas, and we make the most of our environmental studies garden to take learning outdoors whenever possible.

Our Creative Curriculum helps children become confident learners by making meaningful connections across subjects. Pupils get to investigate, collaborate, communicate, reflect, and evaluate, keeping them mentally and physically engaged in their learning.

We follow the National Curriculum but go beyond it to offer a wider range of learning experiences. Specialist staff teach the children Art, PE, Music, Games, Drama, and Languages. Swimming lessons take place in Year 2 during the summer term, where all pupils learn swimming and water safety skills at a local pool. Our curriculum ensures the highest standards in all subjects and a continuity from EYFS in Reception to the pre-preparatory and beyond to the preparatory departments.

Our experienced and committed staff create caring and stimulating learning environments. We treat every child as an individual, providing additional support where needed and challenging the most able, gifted, and talented.

Our goal is for all children to discover their talents, build self-confidence, and achieve their potential. Participation in assemblies, plays, Sports Day, and various musical and creative events gives our pupils the chance to grow and shine. Celebrating children’s achievements is a key part of our approach. Regular assemblies highlight individual and group successes, and weekly PSHE lessons and circle time activities help children build social skills and acknowledge each other’s achievements.

We foster a strong sense of community within the department, creating a warm, family atmosphere where everyone feels valued. Our friendly and flexible approach encourages open communication between children, parents, and staff.
