Combining specialist subject teachers with experienced form tutors during their time in our junior prep department means that we can really support pupils to challenge and develop themselves in a way that responds to their individual needs, help them to explore their talents and move towards their fullest potential.
Creative quality teaching, child-led investigations and STEM based enquiries all add to a broad and well-balanced curriculum that enhances our pupils’ journey through our Junior prep department. These all blend together to build on the stands of our Chatsworth Tapestry that ensure our students understand how to build and support their physical and mental well-being whilst building a strong mindset to help prepare themselves for being global citizens.
Classes are small, with experienced and dedicated support staff, enabling genuinely individual attention that meets pupils’ needs. The school’s aim is to ensure that all pupils belong to something unique, are able to be creative in ideas and activities which leads to a sense of achievement; thereby building self-esteem and ensuring they experience success.
Allowing pupils to be part of committees, have roles of responsibility and be able to lead activities contributes to developing the whole pupil alongside our rigourous core subject teaching and wonderful creative department. As well as our classrooms our pupils are taught in a well resourced science laboratory, a new and exciting arts department and outside in our Spinney School.
Taking learning outside ensures our pupils learnt to respect, care for and be custodians of the world around them. Ensuring they understand how to nurture themselves, as human beings, and the environments they depend upon to thrive and grow.
Our specialist teachers in PE, Music, Art, Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), Design Technology, Computer Science and Environmental Studies plan a broad and varied curriculum, allowing pupils to build a deep and solid understanding of a wide range of subjects alongside their core subjects.
