At Broughton Manor Preparatory School, our learning journey is beautifully showcased through The Broughton Manor Tapestry, an inspired adaptation of the Chatsworth Schools’ award-winning educational philosophy. This unique framework weaves six essential strands across every aspect of school life, helping our children thrive in the 21st century:
The Broughton Manor Tapestry
At Broughton Manor Preparatory School, we put the individual at the heart of everything we do. We adapt the curriculum to suit each child’s mindset, needs, and aspirations, never the other way around.
Our bespoke learning framework, The Broughton Manor Tapestry, weaves together the UK National Curriculum with six unique strands that shape every aspect of our community:
At Broughton Manor, every child’s journey is their own, and The Tapestry ensures it’s woven with purpose.
Personalised Learning at Every Stage
From nurturing toddlers in nursery to guiding confident young learners in prep, the Tapestry ensures a consistent, cohesive journey. It underpins every classroom and outdoor experience, supporting our commitment to grow compassionate, creative, and capable individuals
A Purposeful School Culture
The tapestry not only enhances academic success but also shapes character, creating compassionate leaders and lifelong learners. It’s a visible reflection of our school values seen in our nurturing community, inspiring learning spaces, and every pupil’s achievements.
By weaving these six powerful strands, our tapestry supports every child to flourish, prepared for the challenges of today and excited for the opportunities of tomorrow. It’s more than a curriculum; it’s our promise to see, support, and celebrate each unique learner at Broughton Manor.
Our Curriculum: A World of Learning, Imagination, and Possibility
At Broughton Manor Preparatory School, we offer a vibrant, well-rounded curriculum designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and equip every child with the skills they need for the future.
English
From storytelling and drama to competitions and digital media, our English curriculum brings language to life. Children thrive through shared reading, creative writing, public speaking, and theatre trips, consistently achieving results well above the national average.
Maths
We turn numbers into adventures. Our pupils build strong core skills, develop mental agility, and solve real-world problems through engaging, puzzle-based learning. Success in national exams and local competitions reflects our love for maths at every level.
Science
From budding curiosity to hands-on lab investigations, science at Broughton Manor inspires discovery. Children learn to question, explore, and experiment—developing critical thinking and scientific confidence from day one.
Computing
With state-of-the-art facilities and twice-weekly lessons, our pupils master programming, animation, coding, music production, and robotics. Projects include stop-motion films and game design, all underpinned by a strong focus on online safety.
Humanities
We bring history and geography to life through immersive learning, re-enactments, and engaging trips. Specialist teaching, visiting speakers, and creative classroom experiences develop global awareness and historical insight.
Languages
All children learn French, later adding Spanish, through songs, games, role-play, and cultural exploration. Language learning boosts confidence and global understanding, with real-world opportunities to practise on our French ski trip.
PSHE & SRE
We prepare pupils for life beyond the classroom. Through discussion, role-play and reflection, children learn how to stay safe, build self-esteem, develop healthy relationships,
and become confident, compassionate citizens. To view our PHSE curriculum overview, please click here.
Music
Music is part of daily life at Broughton Manor. Specialist lessons, choirs, instrumental tuition, and live performances nurture talent and joy, from nursery rhymes to our choir and orchestra. Our children shine on stage at school, in the community, and even at arenas.
Art & Design Technology
Creativity thrives here. Pupils explore a world of colour, texture, and design—from sculpture and textiles to clay and 3D models. In DT, children build, engineer, and innovate using real tools, linking skills across subjects while exploring sustainability.
Drama
Drama is at the heart of building confidence. From age four, all children perform, create, and collaborating, gaining skills for life through theatre production, public speaking, and storytelling. Every child is encouraged to shine.
Sport
PE and Games develop fitness, resilience, and teamwork. From gymnastics to swimming, hockey to netball, all children enjoy a wide variety of sports and regularly represent the school in competitive fixture, regardless of ability.
Environmental Studies
Each week in The Spinney, children explore nature hands-on—planting, investigating wildlife, and learning to care for the world around them. Sustainability, scientific enquiry, and environmental responsibility are woven into these magical outdoor sessions.
At Broughton Manor, learning is joyful, rich, and filled with opportunity. We nurture curious minds, creative thinkers, and kind-hearted leaders of tomorrow.
