From Year 4, all pupils participate in timetabled specialised sessions with the Headmaster which are geared towards the verbal reasoning, nonverbal reasoning, English and maths skills required to pass entrance exams.

Several pupils work towards passing the 11+ entrance test for entry to the Grammar Schools in Buckinghamshire, while others benefit from these lessons in preparation for the selective independent secondary schools in Bedford, Milton Keynes or further afield.  The critical thinking and reading skills they develop throughout Year 4 and 5 serve every pupil regardless of their chosen pathways and are transferable to all their secondary education and future exams.
